Pharmacist and entrepreneur Jason Carter took ownership of the Westville Pharmacy on Thursday, April 1. A quick smile and friendly demeanor, he has charmed the staff and many visitors who came in for medicine and discovered there’s a new pharmacist in town.
Carter said he is really enjoying getting to know all the wonderful people in the community, as well as the staff.
“I'll be here everyday for a while. I want the community to know that their pharmacy is in good hands, and I'll do my best to make sure everyone is taken care of,” Carter said.
For now his plans for the pharmacy are to just continue to help people like he’s always done.
Rural communities are familiar to Carter.
Originally from Gore, Oklahoma, he graduated from Gore High School. For college he graduated from Oklahoma State University and then the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy.
The Westville pharmacy is his fourth, along with pharmacies in Poteau, Tahlequah, and Vian. He also owns an Urgent Care Clinic in Poteau and Dance Studio in Tahlequah. Coming soon is a Tex-Mex restaurant in Vian called Rustic Cantina.
With an appreciation for antiques, Carter said the old Coke machine is one of his favorite items in the Westville Pharmacy.
“Actually, it's my second favorite thing. My favorite is the ladies that I'm blessed to work with. Beverly, Louise, and Jennifer have all agreed to stay on board, and they're amazing,” Carter said.
